R O S W E L L

This morning I was woken by Rory "Rockdog" Horton in the hope of finding some big slabs. We headed south and had to sit in the car for half an hour due to the clouds making it too dark to see. The first wave we checked was super small so we were a bit hesitant on checking anywhere else, however Rory decided he didn't jig year 12 english for nothing and we had a look at an over exposed south coast reef which happenned to be pretty pumping with no one in sight. The wigs were on the scene after a couple of hours but I thought I'd provoke some hype on Rory because was going skitz considering he was surfing solo for several hours, throwing his 17 year old pencil-like frame into some sizey caverns, check it.

M O R E I N S P I R A T I O N

As you know I've been watching alot of skateboarding videos lately in order to study the techniques, camera angles and other forms of inventive flare thrust upon them by their creator. I have recently stumbled accross some really creative stuff that the people at DVS have been producing. Unlike most bodyboard movies they choose to utilize copious amounts of practical creativity rather than relying on hours behind a Macbook, slaving away on Final Cut Pro to generate a feel of innovation. What I like most about these videos is that their shots are concise, angles are different and they went to the effort of building structures, generated a specific lighting and skated insanely.

Here's the extended version, which I feel is better than the original.

And Here is the behind the scenes, I like this more than the original and the extended version because it really gives a deeper understanding to how much effort went into creating the video and portreys what the director was thinking and visualising when making his vision come to life.

T O N I G H T A L I V E

One of my best mates Matty Best has so much musical talent he had to join yet another band just to be able to express it all. His new outlet goes by the name of "TONIGHT ALIVE" and are a pretty fresh new sound, many have labelled them as a mix between Paramore and Jesus. Matty is quite the Lady Killer and as much as his groupies are keen to get their mits on a piece of "The Buzz" he is well and truely whipped, sorry ladies. I have just realised that very few people read this blog and the chances of a female readng this blog is slim to none, so perhaps I should be saying sorry to the select few of the gay community out there that read this, if any. So check them out, they are touring with a few bands soon, I think they are even doing a couple of gigs with shortstack for all you punk rawkers out there.

F R O Z E N

Woke up to realise winter is well and truely here, seeing that Canberra was a balmy -5 degrees on the telly didn't help my cause much either. I continued to pack my gear only to realise I had a wet wettie, I considered committing but that was over-ruled by a prank call from Sheelsy, confirming the bombie mission is on.
I managed to f**k up my focus jumping off the ski and struggled to re-focus because there isnt much to adapt your camera to 2Ks out to sea.
Here's the result.

Due to the lack of swell lately I've spent alot of time watching videos and I've stumbled across a few that I am quite fond of, one of which happens to be a snowboard film called "Let's Go Get Lost..." Which is made by the crafty people at ISENSEVEN, enjoy...
